Guitar Lessons in Benfleet: Frequently Asked Questions

Lessons and Prices:

How much do guitar lessons cost?

New students start with my intro offer: your first 4 one-hour lessons for £79. In those four lessons we set clear goals, build a practice routine that actually sticks, and you get your own private student page with practice videos and backing tracks made for you.

After that, lessons are £40 per hour, paid in blocks of 4, in person in Benfleet or live by video call. Same price, same level of service.

Weekday daytime lessons starting before 3pm are £35 per hour, once the intro offer has ended.

How long is each guitar lesson?

Every lesson is one hour. That gives us time to work on technique, learn songs you love, and set a clear practice plan for the weeks ahead.

How often are the guitar lessons?

Lessons are weekly or fortnightly. Weekly lessons suit faster progress, and fortnightly works well for busy schedules. We'll find the right rhythm for you during your intro lessons.

Where do the guitar lessons take place?

In-person lessons are held at my home in Benfleet, Essex. Get in touch for the exact address and directions. If you can't get to Benfleet, you can have lessons with me by high quality video call from wherever you are.

Online Lessons:

Can I take guitar lessons online?

Yes. I offer professional-quality one-to-one guitar lessons by video call, with high quality audio and a camera setup that can be switched between a wide shot and a close-up overhead view of the fretboard, so you can see and hear everything clearly. You get the same level of teaching as in person, at the same price, from the comfort of your own home anywhere in the UK.

Getting Started:

Do I need my own guitar for the lessons?

It's best to have your own guitar so you can practise between lessons. If you don't have one yet, I'm happy to help you choose a suitable instrument.

What ages and levels do you teach?

I teach students from age 7 upwards, including adults, from complete beginners to Grade 8. Whether you're picking up a guitar for the first time or preparing for an advanced exam, lessons are tailored to your level and goals.

Are you DBS checked?

Yes. I hold an enhanced DBS check, with the annual update service, so parents can feel confident their child is in safe hands.

Can parents stay during their child's lesson?

Yes, parents are always welcome to stay and watch. Many find it a great way to see their child's progress and to help with practice at home.

Do you teach guitar exams?

Yes. I prepare students for Rockschool grade exams. Rockschool Grades 6 to 8 also count towards UCAS points for university applications, with the potential to accrue 30 points in total.

Booking & Payment:

What is your cancellation policy?

Lessons are paid in advance in blocks of 4. By bank transfer or cash.
Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours before the lesson start time and rescheduled for a new time within the same fortnight. If it isn't possible to reschedule, the lesson and fee are forfeited. If I need to cancel a lesson for any reason, I'll refund that lesson within the same fortnight.
