Hi, I'm Chris Woollard BA (Hons) — a fully DBS cleared, professional guitar teacher based in Benfleet, Essex. Here's a bit more about my background, how I teach, and where I cover.
20+ Years of Teaching Experience:
I've been teaching guitar 1-to-1 for over 20 years, working with students of all ages and abilities — from complete beginners picking up a guitar for the first time to more advanced players refining their technique. I hold a BA (Hons) and am fully DBS cleared, so parents and adult learners alike can feel confident bringing their trust to lessons with me.
My Teaching Approach:
My lessons are tailored to you, mainly using the Rockschool framework, which gives structure while still leaving room to work on the music you actually want to play — whether that's exam grades, technique, songwriting, or just having fun with a favourite song. I'm proud to hold a 100% Rock School pass rate across my students, and I make sure every lesson is engaging, practical, and enjoyable, not just going through the motions.
Areas I Cover:
I teach in person from my base in Benfleet, and welcome students from nearby towns including Hadleigh, Rayleigh, and Leigh-on-Sea. For anyone further out — Canvey Island, Wickford, Southend-on-Sea, and beyond — online lessons via FaceTime or Teams make it just as easy to get started.
